Everything you need to know about Ayurvedic massage at home
Still wondering? Here are answers to the questions my clients ask most often, from Nice to Monaco and across the French Riviera.
What is Ayurvedic massage?+
Ayurvedic massage, or Abhyanga, is a millennia-old traditional practice originating in India, integrated into Ayurvedic medicine for over 3,000 years. It involves applying warm natural vegetable oils — traditionally sesame-based — over the entire body, following precise movements that accompany the energy meridians and the 7 chakras.
Unlike a conventional Western massage, Abhyanga acts simultaneously on three levels: it deeply relaxes muscle tissue, stimulates lymphatic circulation to eliminate toxins, and rebalances the vital energy known as Prana. It is a complete treatment — physical, energetic and mental all at once. Discover the full treatment details.
What are the benefits of a session?+
An Abhyanga session works on three distinct and complementary levels. On the energetic level, it rebalances the 7 chakras and promotes the free flow of Prana through the body — a feeling of lightness and renewed vitality is often felt immediately after the session.
On the physical level, the draining movements stimulate the lymphatic system: toxins are eliminated, heavy legs feel lighter, and blood circulation is revived. On the mental level, slow, enveloping strokes soothe the nervous system, release accumulated tensions and encourage deep, restorative sleep. The effects often last several days after the session.
Do you offer both relaxing and draining massages?+
Yes — and this is precisely the strength of the Abhyanga massage: it can be fully adapted to your needs in the moment. The pressure and rhythm of the movements adjust entirely to your intention: gentle and enveloping for deep relaxation and complete nervous system release, or firmer and more rhythmic for a draining focus that stimulates lymphatic circulation, relieves heavy legs and helps eliminate water retention.
Simply tell me what you need at the time of booking or at the start of the session, and I will adapt the treatment accordingly. Both intentions can even coexist in the same session, applied to different areas of the body.
Is it suitable for sporty women or those simply seeking relaxation?+
Absolutely. Ayurvedic massage adapts equally well to intensive athletic practice and to a simple need for relaxation. For a sporty woman, it is particularly effective for muscle recovery: lymphatic drainage accelerates the elimination of metabolic waste, reduces muscle soreness and prepares the body for the next effort.
For a woman seeking above all to step away from daily life and reclaim a space of her own, the slow, enveloping strokes of Abhyanga create a bubble of serenity that is hard to find elsewhere. In both cases, the session ends in a state of deep calm that my clients often describe as unlike anything they have experienced before.
Is the service exclusively for women?+
Yes, I work exclusively with female clients. This choice is rooted in the very foundation of Ayurvedic energy massage: the treatment works through the meeting of two complementary energies, following the yin-yang principle. As a male practitioner, my yang energy naturally complements and balances the yin energy of my clients, amplifying the effects of the treatment on an energetic level.
This framework is also designed for your safety and comfort: every session takes place in a respectful, caring and thoroughly professional environment — at your home, in your own space. Learn more about my approach.
How long is a session and what are the prices?+
I offer three options tailored to your availability and intention: 60 minutes at €120 for a focused, revitalising session; 90 minutes at €180 for a complete treatment — and the most popular choice among my clients; and 120 minutes at €210 for a fully immersive experience that gives the body time to release completely.
A travel supplement may apply depending on your distance from Nice — I will let you know at the time of booking. Until 1 August 2026, a discovery rate is available for your very first session: simply mention it when you get in touch.
Which areas do you cover?+
I cover the entire French Riviera and beyond. My main service area includes Nice and the whole Alpes-Maritimes department, including Cannes, Antibes and Juan-les-Pins, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cap-Ferrat, Èze, Menton and Beaulieu-sur-Mer. I also travel to Monaco and as far as Saint-Tropez and the Saint-Tropez peninsula.
Sessions can take place at your home, in your hotel suite, or on board your boat or yacht. For destinations beyond Nice, a mileage supplement applies and will be communicated to you in advance.
What do I need to prepare at home?+
Nothing in particular on your side. I bring everything: my professional massage table, warm vegetable oils, covering linen and everything needed to create the right atmosphere — soft lighting and a calming ambiance. All you need to provide is a quiet space of roughly 2 metres by 3 metres, enough to set up the table comfortably.
I adapt to all environments: apartment, villa, hotel suite, yacht. My goal is to transform your space into a genuine wellbeing retreat — without you having to travel or organise anything. The session begins the moment I arrive.
Which oils do you use?+
I use high-quality natural vegetable oils, warmed to a gentle temperature before the session to optimise their absorption and enhance the enveloping effect of the massage. The Ayurvedic tradition recommends sesame oil as the primary base — it is nourishing for the skin, facilitates smooth strokes and has recognised draining properties in Ayurvedic medicine.
If you have a known allergy to a vegetable oil, a particular skin sensitivity or a preference, please let me know before the session. I will adapt the blend accordingly to ensure the treatment is fully safe and comfortable for you.
Are there any contraindications?+
Certain situations require prior medical advice before considering a massage: pregnancy (especially in the first trimester), cardiovascular conditions, phlebitis or thrombotic risk, recent surgery, skin infections or open wounds, fever or acute inflammatory states. In these cases, please consult your doctor before booking.
If you have any doubt or a specific condition, let me know when you get in touch: I will advise whether the treatment is appropriate, adapt it if necessary, or refer you to a healthcare professional if needed. Ayurvedic massage is a wellbeing treatment — it does not replace medical care.
How do I book a session?+
Booking is done directly by phone, SMS or WhatsApp at +33 7 81 92 75 69, or by email at lawrencemassage06@gmail.com. I generally reply within the day. For urgent or last-minute requests, WhatsApp is the fastest channel.
When you get in touch, please specify your city, preferred duration, your availability and any particular need (sports recovery, drainage, deep relaxation). I will confirm the appointment, let you know the travel supplement if applicable, and we will arrange all the details so that your session runs perfectly.
How do I choose the right duration?+
If it is your first session or you would like to discover Abhyanga, the 90-minute option is what I recommend most often: it gives the body enough time to truly enter a state of release, without being overwhelming for a first experience. It is also the most popular choice among my regular clients.
The 60-minute session works well if you have limited time or want a more targeted treatment. The 120-minute session is ideal if you would like a fully immersive experience, or if you wish to combine several intentions (drainage, relaxation and energy rebalancing) in a single session. If you are unsure, simply tell me your goal and I will guide you to the most suitable duration.
